CHARLEMAGNE
By: Cara Wethington Charlemagne wasborn on a cold blistering day in 742.(1) He had one brother named Carloman,(5) his dad was King Pepin.(6) His childhood was overtaken by the laborious tasks of preparing himself to control his father’s land.(3) His father owned a huge amount of land stretching from modern day France all the way to Switzerland.(2) On September 24, 768, just minutes before hisdad’s death, Charlemagne's dad had divided his land to his two sons.(4)Hisbrother had owned present-day Germany, France, and Switzerland.(9) His brother died in 771(7), this had put Charlemagne with a huge plot of land.(8) His kingdom grew up to an empire under his relentless and resourceful military campaign, it covered most of modern France and Germany. He had many wives and concubines. On December 25 Charlemagne was crowned emperor of the Romans. He had died in 814.
